The Department of Children & Family is focused on improving the lives of children and families in Alameda County by serving children and youth who have experienced, or are at risk of experiencing, abuse or neglect.

Our success depends on strong partnerships with families, and our own services are enhanced by our work with a variety of organizations, both public and private.

Our vision is that all children in Alameda County will have the opportunity to grow and develop in a safe, healthy, nurturing and stable home. To reach this goal, we strive to ensure that all children and youth receive all of the support and security that their family can provide.

Michelle Love has over twenty four years in public child welfare. Michelle began her career as Child Welfare Worker II in the Department of Children and Family Services in 1996. Within five years of her start, Michelle became a Child Welfare Supervisor and shortly thereafter, promoted to Program Manager. In her role as Program Manager, Michelle had the opportunity to manage every program in the Prevention and Intake Division. In 2007, Michelle was promoted to Division Director of the Prevention and Intake Division.

Michelle was appointed the Assistant Agency Director responsible for the Department of Children and Family Services in November 2011, following nine months as the Interim Assistant Agency Director. In addition to her role as Assistant Agency Director, Michelle has served as the CWDA Children’s Operation, Co-Chair, CWDA ILP Subcommittee Chair, and is currently the CWDA Workforce, Development, and Training Co-Chair.

Michelle received her Bachelor’s Degree in English, and her Master’s Degree in Social Welfare from UC Berkeley. Michelle was a Title IV-E Recipient.
